The Turcoman peoples of Afghanistan and Central Asia make specialty bags in this form to store salt, a valuable commodity. This particular bag is densely woven in a flat-weave technique using supplemental wefts for the colorful designs. This bag is made of all wool and is in very nice lightly used condition.
