This multiple-use tzute was produced in the Maya town of Totonicapan, and dates from the 1990s. It was woven in one narrow panel on a treadle loom, and is 100% cotton woven in weft-faced plain weave. It is extremely finely woven, as can be seen in the second photo below. Much of the design features small figures of weft-ikat. The fringes show the gray cotton warp threads.
Dimensions: approximately 20.5 inches wide and 62 inches long, including the fringes.
Condition: Excellent, very lightly used, some light soil and fading possible.
