Product Description

Hand-carved wooden slingshot of jumping dog
The Maya Indian men, particularly those in the altiplano around the town of Nahuala, carve wooden items for their daily use. Pipes and hondas (slingshots) are the items most commonly encountered.

This is very simply carved wooden slingshot depicting a domestic dog. It has a patina of actual use, and may be 20-40 years old. It is of the style made for decades for personal use. It is carved from a hardwood such as mahogany, and has a dark patina and light wear from years of use. Overall length is about 5.5 inches. A nice example of typical indigenous manufacture.
