Old Wood slingshot approximately 6 inches long
The Maya Indian men, particularly those in the altiplano around the town of Nahuala, carve wooden items for their daily use. Pipes and hondas (slingshots) are the items most commonly encountered.
This is very well-carved wooden slingshot depicting a human male Maya figure. It is an older slingshot with a very nice patina obtained from age and handling. It survives as used, complete with rubber sling and the leather pouch for the projectile. It is carved from a hard straight wood, possibly walnut. Overall length is about 6 inches. This slingshot is in very nice condition.
