Woman's necklace 29-3- inches long of glass beads
Maya Indian women of Guatemala wear a variety of decorative jewelry. The women of the Sacatepequez and Chimaltenango departments usually wear necklaces made from old glass beads, often of various shapes. See the attached photos.
This particular necklace is from one of the villages in the Sacatepequez department. The beads are about 7 mm. in diameter, and of a flat circular disc shape. The color is a very dark translucent green, the total length is 29-30 inches. The necklace is strung on nylon cord. It is probably 20-40 years old.
