Product Description

Woman's huipil measuring approx. 33 inches wide and 24 inches long
This post-1980 daily use huipil was woven on a backstrap loom. The traditional geometric designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading; they are of mixed cotton and synthetic threads. It consists of two panels, joined down the center of the garment. All lower edges are hemmed. The stitching down the sides, under the arm-holes, which makes the huipil into a finished garment as used by the Maya women, has been removed to facilitate display. This a very nicely-made and finely-woven example. It also contains the traditional red shoulder bands, which is of the traditional form.

Measurements: 33 inches wide, length is 24 inches shoulder to hem .

Condition: Very Good, lightly used, some very slight soil is possible, some loose threads.
