Product Description

All wool belt 5.2 inches wide and 100 inches long
This belt was part of a collection assembled in Mexico and Guatemala during the late 1970s. There is a label which says "State of Mexico, March, 1980", and this is the only information which I have about the item. The weaving style is warp-faced, of a dark red background, with the designs made using black and white supplemental warps. The weft is white wool. The weaving technique yields a design which is quite intricate. The belt is 5.2 inches wide and approximately 100 inches long. The 5-inch long fringes consists of twisted and braided warps, primarily in black and red.

Condition is Very Good, with no faults noticeable. This faja appears to have been washed a number of times, with the result that the red has bled into the white, which is not a light rose color.
