Very Large Art embroidery hanging from Chichicastenango, NEW
These panels are made in the Quiche Maya market town of Chichicastenango, located in Guatemala's southern highlands. They are all embroidered by hand on multiple cotton comercial cloth panels; these small panels are then sewn together to get the larger hanging. Each is unique.
This particular hanging measures approximately 98 inches tall and 74 inches wide, but is slightly irregular in shape. It is however perfectly rectangular -- the distortion is due to the angle of the photo. It was assembled from 36 individual panels. It is new and in very good and clean condition. After the image of the entire hanging, there follows selected shots of individual panels. This would make a wonderful bed cove for a child's room (be aware, however, that the back of the hanging is not finished, that there are some loose threads) or a large wall hanging.
